Here's what to expect during the first 24 hours—and how to make it as smooth and comforting as possible.

✅ What to Prepare Before Arrival

Before your kitten arrives, make sure you’ve set up a:

• Quiet, warm room (preferably a bedroom or small area)

• Litter tray with familiar litter (we’ll tell you which brand we use)

• Food and water bowls (ceramic or stainless steel)

• Scratching post or pad

• Comfy bed or blanket (we provide one with mum’s scent!)

🚗 The Journey Home

Most kittens will be nervous during the car ride, even if they’ve been pre-socialised. Keep the carrier secure and calm, and avoid loud music. Talk to your kitten gently but don’t open the carrier until you’re safely inside your home.

🏠 The First Few Hours

Let your kitten explore their starter room at their own pace. Keep visitors, kids, and other pets away during the first 24–48 hours. Offer KatKin (lightly warmed) and some Royal Canin dry food. It’s okay if they don’t eat much at first—it’s all new!
